The Pedro Pietri Papers are an invaluable resource for information on the eclectic career of one of the Puerto Rican community’s most prolific and experimental writers, as well as one of the founders of the Nuyorican poetry movement. Collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, photographs, flyers, posters, writings, artifacts, artwork, videotapes and audiocassettes.

A dynamic and multifaceted collection, highlights of the papers include extensive original writings, annotated drafts of already published works and original artwork. Moreover, the collection boasts a large array of handmade artifacts and an impressive assortment of posters and publications documenting artistic activity in New York over the last three decades. The materials in this collection span the years from 1939 to 2004 with the bulk concentrating on the years 1970 to 2002. They consist of correspondence, memoranda, photographs, flyers, clippings, poetry, plays, essays, scripts, awards, posters, programs, videotapes, audiocassettes, artwork and artifacts. The folders are arranged alphabetically and the documents are arranged chronologically.
