Morris reviewed AW’s The Sun’s Eye, and they met soon thereafter. Commissioned by AW – on recommendation of George Lamming – to be editor of new series, Critical Studies of Caribbean Writers. Morris’ wife Helen, a Spanish scholar, commissioned by AW to write a Spanish textbook for schools. The Morrises have met regularly, and reciprocated hospitality, in Kingston and in London, ever since.
